Babywearing & Business

Babywearing was one of the very first parenting tools that I learned that was highly effective for our family. It became our business because the passion rooted it so deeply, in that it was our survival! The challenges and tribulations that came with running a business were definitely more than we ever could have expected, and continue to force us into a path of growth.

What’s the hardest part? Having kids! Little ones need you NOW, often, repeatedly. Any parent knows this. But trying to work with a toddler, then a preschooler and a newborn, then a toddler and a kindergartener… it just hasn’t gotten easier yet! 

Our business was only dreamt up BECAUSE of the kids, but it is so hard to run some days BECAUSE of the kids!!! Such a catch 22 our life feels like.

Customer service is one of the key pieces to our continued success, and it means spending time online answering emails, interacting with customers, and being available frequently throughout the day. Obviously this has been one of the biggest perks AND challenges, as it’s easy to sit and answer a facebook message or two, but it also means that I find myself interacting with my phone more than my kids sometimes. The balance is so tricky to find!

As much as I love being a mama, and I love my kiddos, I also love my business! I love having something that is “me”…a creative outlet and using my brain instead of just being a mom. I’m sure many of you can relate to the necessity of that as well! 

Would I go back and do it all over again? Probably… with perhaps a few more things organized before jumping in with both feet :P But to know that I get to facilitate spreading babywearing and awareness about carriers far and wide is worth more than anything to me, as it was the first and foremost goal we ever had.
